lcbo, August 21, 2001 at 11:27:20 PM CEST Melvin Jackson - Cold Duck Time A funky song I uploaded to filepile a while ago with little fanfare. It's on my server right now. Get it here. comment! For while Benny Hill did do a lot of running around after women in underwear on his telly programme, he also wrote some great songs with 'jeu de mots' and so on. I don't know about Bobby Lapointe but I do know that it is sad that Benny Hill died a broken man, dropped by Thames television unceremoniously for pollitical correctness, in spite of earning them more money in international exports than the rest of their programmes put together. comment! In the mid-90's we used to have a weekly Radio Show (the BBBC) by the Blood Brothers a.k.a. Pressure Drop. They played a good mix of Drum & Bass, Break Beats, Hip-Hop, Dancehall and original 60's and 70's Jazz, Soul, Funk, Reggae and Dub. I taped some of their broadcasts, but all tapes have been "borrowed" by friends. Anyway, they played a long 60's Herbie Mann tune, sort of laid back Bossa Nova/Latin style with a great bass solo. I'd been looking for this ever since and today I found it. It is called "Comin' Home Baby". Read the line up. They have two (!!) double bass players. Great sound! Check "Summertime" on Filepile. comment! (no comments) kris, August 21, 2001 at 4:16:54 PM CEST Hmmm I was just thinking about a collaborative site where some people write about the tracks they have. Like one each day or less. No big reviews, just short notes, why the song or the album is great. It shouldn't be the obvious stuff, more like little treasures. Edutainment, that is. mp3s don't need to be uploaded since everybody knows how to find them. Or we could cooperate with filepile. What do you think? I could try to invite like 5 filepilers who always upload quality music. comment! (7 comments) |
